Preface

In September 2016, the situation at Altınkum Beach in Yağcılar Village of Urla district of İzmir was as follows: a public beach, a beach surrounded by wire fences with plenty of opportunities for a fee, and a private area for the residents of the complex. . Among the places I have mentioned, the last two places had sunbeds, showers and eating and drinking facilities, but there was no sunbed for the public, even if it was paid. They had folding chairs that they could carry from their vehicles, but they did not have the opportunity to lie down. It wasn't mine personally. Couldn't this be a portable lounge chair out of the way? The product to be designed should be portable, that is, light, water-resistant, heat-resistant surfaces that do not conduct heat from sand.

Name

It is derived from the word "Katla", which was chosen based on the imperative mood in Turkish, since it should be a product that needs to be folded and portable. The 5-letter word is embroidered on each plywood panel, aiming for a simple imagery.

Material

For this, beech water plywood of 6 millimeters was deemed suitable. (6x1700x2200 mm) Plate weight: 16.83 kg. There were 12 square plates with the dimensions of 50x50 cm from one plate. It was deemed appropriate to build 2 sun loungers and it was designed to be 5+1 of them. 5 of them were considered as sunbeds and 1 as a side table. The plates were connected to each other with 4 cm wide suspension straps.
